So you have decided to create your first web site.  You are probably contemplating whether or not you want to use Linux based hosting or Windows.  To be honest with you I use Linux hosting, because it seems to be a whole lot more stable.  Also it is usually cheaper, since Windows (owned by Microsoft) is a commercial based OS (operating system.)

Linux is often referred to as LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL & PHP.)  Another reason people are commonly choice Linux over Windows is because it really a whole lot more flexible.  What do I mean by more flexible?  No it can't do backflips or handstands, but it does seem to make it a lot more easy to apply updates and patches to it.  For that reason alone a lot of people do choose to use Linux verses Windows hosting.  Another thing that has always puzzled me is Linux is a free and Windows cost money.  You might be thinking that just because something is free that it is not as good.  The truth of the matter is, Linux hosting is actually better and cheaper than Windows hosting.  So it is a no brainer to go with Linux for your hosting needs.
